Repaired Rescued Duck, damaged ceramic ornament, recycled and reused sterling silver. 2017 repaired 2023. This was one of the works I made for the exhibition Impressions of our Arteries curated by Debra Porch in 2017. It had subsequently suffered an unfortunate drop and was returned to me for a new repair.

The jewellery and objects we wear, use or collect, tell a story.
My work is inspired by my observations of society and frequently starts with a societal discard, such as a fragment of something broken. I like to work with the narrative that materials evoke.
It is important for me to know where the materials I use come from. To this end, I prioritise the reuse of materials, and the use of recycled and ethically sourced materials. If in the future someone wants to reuse the materials or retrieve a particular element from my works, this should be possible without resorting to chemical interventions.
