Inundated Houses
In January 2011 Brisbane flooded for the first time since 1974.
I found images of houses submerged to the ceiling unnerving and a poignant symbol of the impact of the flood.
The flood was indiscriminate in whose houses were inundated, these rings were made to provide an impersonalised record on a personal scale. They capture a moment in time.

The rings were made for the exhibition, Inundation, a response to the 2011 Queensland Floods at Contemporary Artisans Collective April 27 - May 3. Works from this series were also included the exhibitions Small Works at Marks and Gardner November 12th to December 24th, 2011 and Shared Vision a touring exhibition in Poland June 2011-2012.
