Radical Localism

Curated by Cassandra Lehman (Artisan Queensland)
Jewellery & Objects by Elizabeth Shaw
A touring exhibition

This exhibition was originally shown as part of SHAW & SHAW at Artisan. The exhibition featured a curated collection of my works and ceramic works of my late father Jeff Shaw.

"Liz Shaw continues to foster local talent and to extend ethical and environmental concerns through discussions about the re-evaluation of cultural material priorities."

Narrative and materials have always been a key elements of my works and in Radical Localism, Lehman has drawn jewellery and objects from decades of practice. Her installation mixes works from various periods of practice and in doing so highlights consistent interests that have permeated my studio thinking. It has given me a new perspective of my work, through viewing it in a new way. As the exhibition tours, I expect the installation will vary with the gallery spaces, each offering a new interpretation.
